The Breakaway Desktop is a lightweight toolbar that allows the user to easily launch applications with a single mouse-click or touch of the screen.  Add your favorite applications to quickly access the products you use most often.

The Breakaway Desktop supports up to 36 applications and allows you to display them in one of four separate layout modes.  The Auto Layout mode calculates the optimal pattern to layout the number of applications that you have set up to display.  There is also a Vertical- and Horizontal Layout mode that arranges the buttons in the order defined in the configuration setup.  The Manual Layout mode allows you to edit the position of each application by dragging the button around the desktop. Once you have it in place, save the settings and you are ready to go.

The configuration screen allows you to add and remove applications from the desktop surface.  If you have an application that you don't need access for a while, but don't want to delete and set up again later, use the Visibility option.  Each application allows the user to define the following options:

• Button Title
• Button Caption
• Text Color
• Button Color
• Button Image (sample images included with the product)
• Application path and filename
• Application Parameters (optional application settings)
• Visibility flag

The configuration settings screen allows you to define how the Breakaway Desktop is used by defining a background image or color, the title of the application and the layout mode on startup.  The user can also define security settings on this screen by creating a password to restrict access to all settings and defining whether a password is required to close the application.

One more powerful feature of the Breakaway Desktop is the ability to use template files to create and share desktop settings.  If you need to deploy the Breakaway Desktop application across multiple computers using the same setup, just configure one installation to your needs and save out the settings as a template file.  This template file can then be imported into other Breakaway Desktop installations.
